NICE guidance SC1 – for Care Home Staff, and NG67 – for Community Staff, both state that staff must be assessed annually as competent before being allowed to administer medicines.

This interactive full-day course (approximately 7 hours) is designed for those with basic medication training. Aimed at Managers and Senior staff, it boosts self-assurance in evaluating staff competency while providing the necessary skills, knowledge, and tools for workplace assessments. The course includes interactive exercise, discussions on case studies and real-world examples of challenges such as medication errors and their prevention.

Course Aims
To help ensure that care providers comply with, and provide evidence to, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) of staff competency in the administration of medicines.
